Today is my Granny Bush’s birthday.  Funny that I forgot to write about getting a real wreath with beautiful red and gold ribbon bows and red Christmas balls made to leave at her grave.  I knew it would be hard to see her name written on a plaque that had “date of death” right below her birthday.

I cried (of course) and I felt like I wanted to talk to her but mom was there walking the dog around and I felt sort of stupid with her there acting so non-chalant.  I wish I had gone there alone to have that chance to express my first real sense of loss and grief over Granny’s death.  She doesn’t have a headstone – just a metal frame with a piece of paper with her name, birthday and the day she died – VERY unacceptable!  I want to try to send Mary the $ to get one made for her – it’s just not good enough for my Granny for her to not even have a headstone.  It makes me feel like she’s not as important as she was.

(now, on to Tuesday, December 14th’s actually activities)

Will and I got sort of a late start as I was tired and didn’t want to jump out of bed and run out the door.  We went by Michael’s to see Mrs. Sandy but, of course, she was off today so I guess I’ll go by tomorrow.  We went to Piccadilly for lunch and I had roast beef, mashed potatoes, corn, a roll and coconut pie – I ate like a pig!  My stomach had been queasy since Saturday, but my appetite was in full gear today.

We went down to the new State Capitol building and walked around taking pictures and some of them came out really nice.  We even went up in the tower, where I haven’t been in more than ten years.  We went to the old Capitol after, but they were closed.  The security guy let me go in and take some pictures of the stairs and ceiling, though, and they came out awesome!  We came back to Will’s and hung out for a while, looked at our pictures and then went to Lone Star for a bite.  I had steak, salad, baked potatoes and key lime pie for dessert.

We picked Emily up and went back to watch 100 Girls which was a pretty funny movie.  Emily and I headed back here, checked email and chatted for a while.  I’m tired and am off to bed soon.

I talked to Tracey and she painted the kitchen in her new place.  She doesn’t seem to miss me, though she says she’s stressed out about work and her new place, etc.  I dunno.  More tomorrow!
