The SAINTS KICK ASS!!!

I’m so excited that I don’t know where to begin typing!  Ok, first I guess I have to explain that, since I’m a native Louisianian, I’ve been watching New Orleans Saints football since I was a kid.  This pastime has largely been an excercise in perpetual disappointment.  HOWEVER…..enter Sean Payton, Drew Brees, Reggie Bush and Marcus Colston and HOLY CRAP!  A winning season!

The Saints obliterated the supposed “best team in the NFC” Dallas Cowboys tonight and I am so excited I can barely sit still to write this post!  In addition to having always been a Saints fan – which means having watched them through many losing seasons with the occasional win just to keep us from starving to death waiting for a chance to feel good about our team – I’ve also always been a vehement opponent of the Dallas Cowboys.  I don’t know why, I just HATE them.  With sports in general, I can only watch while maintaining any interest if I actually have a preference for who wins the game I’m watching.  So, watching the Saints games is easy – I always want them to win – DUH!  I can also watch Seattle since they’re the closest team to me geographically which means they’re my surrogate “home team” so I root for them if they’re playing anyone other than the Saints.  But, since I hate Dallas with a purple, pink-polka-dotted, yellow-striped passion, I can also watch their games because I automatically want anyone else EXCEPT them to win.

I guess my distaste for the ‘Boys comes due to the fact that a lot of Louisianians just don’t like Texas in general.  There seems to be an air of arrogance that comes with Texas just doesn’t fly with our folk and that, at least in my case, extends to absolute abhorrence of any Texas sports teams, but particularly the Dallas Cowboys.

So, now, back to the Saints!  😉

It feels damn good, after all these years and, particularly, with the hell that New Orleans went through with Hurricane Katrina, to walk around with one’s head held high as a Saints fan.

Three more regular season games to go and the schedule is supposed to be a pretty easy ones for the Saints.  Let’s see if we can finish this sucker 12-4 – a far cry from last year’s 3-13 finish.  Talk about a comeback!

GEAUX SAINTS!!!!
