The Saints are Coming

While I know it’s only pre-season and, therefore, doesn’t officially count, I’m still giddy at the whoopin’ the New Orleans Saints gave the Kansas City Chiefs in Thursday’s game.  I suppose my enthusiasm is enhanced by the fact that we have to wait 8 months after the playoffs for football season to start again. The horror!

I perched on the couch decked out in my Authentic On-Field Drew Brees Away Jersey (white with black lettering) and relished each march the Saints took down the field.  At least the Chiefs scored one touchdown at the end of the fourth quarter, preventing them from walking into the locker room with an even more embarrasing shut-out fresh in their memory.

I’ve watched Saints football since I was 12 years old and it’s an awesome feeling to finally see them have a team and coach that, together, make a winning combination. Though, I do have to admit, it bugs me that everyone’s jumping on the bandwagon as new “fans”.  Where were all these posers through all the losing seasons us real fans have suffered, all the while never losing faith that the day would come! lol

Since I now live so far from my native Louisiana, Saints (ok, and LSU, too!) football is something that makes me feel connected to and proud of where I come from. GEAUX SAINTS!
