Low-Key Day

Today was pretty low key.  I woke up a little before 11:00am, having gone to sleep around 5:00am.  I got a few emails from folks at Rennie, but nothing major. Angelica told me that the postcard is being postponed for a couple of weeks, so that’s a relief.  I have to start working on floorplans tomorrow to get the full set ready for next week.  I had planned on getting started on them today, but the house was a mess and I couldn’t concentrate on work when I felt the space needed some attention.

So, I set out into my normal routine of making the bed, gathering up trash and recycling, sprinkling carpet freshener on the floor, followed by thorough vacuuming.  I cleaned off my desk and filed a bunch of stuff that had been piling up and put up the three new tin signs that I got in Oregon.  I put two of them on the side of one of my bookcases and they look really cool there!

I went for a walk around the park with the ankle weights on – my god, it’s hard to believe an extra couple of pounds to drag along can make that much of a difference in how tired you feel at the end of the walk!  I saw about 4 female Hooded Mergansers that were at the second pond swimming around the little island.  The two males and their two mates were on the other side – that’s the most I’ve seen at one time around there. Those friggin’ ducks are cool!  I have to bring my camera next time to try to get some shots of them. They are so neat looking!  I came back and did some dumbbell exercises before getting started on the house cleaning.  So, at least I got some exercise today!

With all the stuff I did around the house, I didn’t end up getting showered and dressed to go over to SaveOn until almost 5.  I had a Big Mac, fries, diet Coke and an apple pie which I wolfed down because I hadn’t eaten anything else all day.  This is a very bad practice, I know, particularly for someone who would like to lose a few pounds!

While I was there, I witnessed the cheapest thing on Earth….this little old Chinese lady walked up next to me while I was standing at the side of the counter waiting for the food.  I thought she wanted to ask something of the girl that was working but, to my surprise, the lady waited until her back was turned and then reached her grubby little hand into the thing that holds the straws and grabs the biggest fistful she can and then turns around and goes to stuff them in her purse!  I mean, good Lord, how fucking cheap can you possibly be, that you’re going to make effort to steal 30+ friggin’ straws from McDonald’s!  I mean, I’ve taken a couple here and there to keep in my car in the event that they forget to give me one at the Drive-Thru and I’ll grab a handful of napkins to keep in the glove box, too.  But, taking 1/3 of all the straws that were there, just to stuff in your bag and bring home? Puh-leez!  That sort of shit gets to me because I know places up the price of food because of stuff like that and, also, I can’t stand people who are so cheap that they go out of their way to steal or scam things for free, particularly meaningless things like fucking straws!  Software?  MP3s?  Well, everyone knows THAT is different! lol  And, to be perfectly honest, I look forward to the day when my company makes enough money where I can afford to buy legit copies of the software I use.  And, maybe by the time that happens, they won’t charge $1500 a pop for it!

I picked up a few things from the store and came back here.  Tracey got home not long after and we headed out to Dai Masu for sushi and then back to SaveOn for her to pick up a couple of things.  We watched Bionic Woman and she went to bed, having been up since 6am.

I just talked to Manon for a few minutes and was telling her about the Entertainment Book – I’m supposed to meet a guy tomorrow to buy several off him.  I’m going to keep one for myself and give one each to Rennie and Joyce’s offices for the folks there to share.  I’m going to either design a custom book jacket for them or staple my biz card inside with a handwritten note, so they will think of me when they use the book.  Hey, can’t blame a girl for some guerrilla marketing ideers!

Going to watch America’s Next Top Model and Smallville and call it a day.  All in all, pretty laid back and happy that I got the house in order.  I can’t stand it when I see “Vacuum” written on my to-do list. UGH!  🙂
