Weekend Roundup

I really have to get my sleeping hours straightened out.  THIS SUCKS!  I keep waking up at noon or shortly thereafter and then I feel like a slug and like I have no time in the day to then get anything done. UUUUUGHHHHH.

Woke up late on Saturday and had intended to go pick up the mail, but alas, I never got around to it.  Tracey came over after work and we speed-watched the Packers/Seahawks and Patriots/Jaguars games.  We ordered food from Mr. Ho and they screwed up the order and had to come back with wonton soup and fortune cookies that weren’t in the bag.  Laina came by and we watched a couple of episodes of Dexter and Tracey went to bed to get up early for work again.

I got a wild hair and decided I wanted to take pictures of some of the projects I’ve completed recently that are not yet in my portfolio on the web site yet.  So, I dragged out my lights and gathered a full sample for each of the projects I want to add, though, I didn’t get around to adding the ACG, Cedarcrest, Creative Illuminations or BOOST stuff yet, so I’ll probably print out samples of those so I can add everything at once. Now, just have to write up descriptions for all the projects and size images before I sit down to, once again, retool the thumbnails on the main pages.  I HATE the way I built that stuff…so annoying!

While I was playing photographer in the living room, Laina was researching info on the car situation and looking up books for me to check out at the library to inform myself about the cars I’m considering.  I put an ad up on the Buy & Sell web site with tons of details about my car, so we’ll see if I get any bites.

Yesterday was another slow starter…got up late (damnit!!!) and phoned my dad to ask him if he had any sage advice on my car selling/buying situation.  I went by the library and copied a few pages out of the Lemon-Aid book Laina mentioned and then headed to the dealership on Lougheed.  Laina met me there and we talked to the sales guy for a while and they were trying to tell me to get a $17000 PT Cruiser that I’d be paying like $200 every two weeks – in your dreams, buddy!  I told them I want less than $300 a month PERIOD.  I’m not going through all this hassle and possibly (though hopefully not) losing money on the car I have just to only be saving $120 a month on my payment.  I told them I was happy to walk away until the deal made better sense for me.  And, it’s true. I’m not going to get burned on selling my car just to save money for CRA.  Let them take my RSPs if they want and they can wait on the rest until I can get out from under this car payment.  I’m not eating a huge loss on their behalf…fuck that noise!

We watched the remaining Season 1 episodes of Dexter at Tracey’s after having dinner at Martini’s.  Their pizza and salad is SOOOO good!  Too bad there’s no Entertainment coupon for them this year, but we got the $5 credit they gave us when we had them deliver a pizza a while back and it was ice cold.  They tried to tell us it had been used already which it hadn’t. The day it was supposedly used was the day we were in Washington shopping and at the casino.  We were on the edge of our seats watching the last two eps of Dexter!  We had already sorta figured there was some major connection between Dex and the Ice Truck Killer and we figured it might be his brother.  Alas, our suspicions were correct!  Didn’t envision he’d actually kill his own brother, but it’s good to see Dex isn’t as far gone as that crazy mo-fo!  The show got considerably better about halfway through the season.  Less voiceovers, less same plot (find bad guy, kill bad guy, talk about how detached he is from emotions and other people) and some anticipation which was nice.  Can’t wait to see Season 2.

Once again, Tracey had to go to bed early for work, so I went over to Laina’s and hung out there until almost 2:30.  Came home and got in bed, chatted with her online for a few minutes and then passed out cold in two seconds flat.  Just wish I could do that a little earlier in the evening, since it was about 3:45am when I finally went to sleep.

Phone rang this morning and then a second time at 11:00am and I woke up but had a bad headache, so went back to sleep for about an hour.  Been sitting here at the machine reading emails, talking to Laina and Frank and made a to-do list, though I’ve not accomplished anything on it yet.

Have to take a bath and then get to replying to the printers about the Southmere piece so they can give us quotes.  Hard to ask for a quote on something that’s not even designed yet…

And, with that, I’m off for now!
