Went back to the clinic this morning and got to see Dr. Tan for a follow-up on my eye infection which has worsened since last week. Now, it feels like I have paper cuts or grains of glass-like sand in the lower lids and any sort of eye drops or saline burns like hell when I put it in there. Dr. Tan said that she thinks the infection may be viral since it didn’t respond to the other antibiotic drops. She prescribed another type of drops that she said is a more broad-spectrum antibiotic and said that if that doesn’t help, it’s probably a viral infection and to come back if it’s not improved in a week. She said these types of infections can take up to three weeks to clear up and that I can’t wear contacts at all for a MONTH! OMG!
So, obviously, I cannot wear shitty, 8-year-old glasses for a month, so I went to Lenscrafters to look at glasses since they have the lenses I need and they can turn them around either same-day or next day. I found a few different frames that I like, but I think I’ve settled on a pretty basic brown, almost-rectangular plastic frame made by Prada. I had the lady put everything in the computer so I can go by there in the morning with Tracey so she can see the frames before I make a final decision and pay for them.
The girl that I talked to on the phone – Maria – helped me when I went into the store and she was funny. I told her I hadn’t bought new glasses in 8 years and when I was hemming and hawing about paying more for certain frames, she kept saying “8 more years! Come on!” haha Too funny! She was nice enough to tell me that if I have extended health coverage that they offer a 30% off thing when you buy glasses. So, essentially, I’ll be getting a nicer frame with same-day turnaround for about $85 more than what Costco would charge and I’d have to wait 4 weeks to get them from them! So, I’m just looking at it like I’m paying the extra cost for faster turnaround.
We also took Jesse to the vet today to get a lump that’s on the side of her head examined. The vet decided to draw some fluid from it via a needle and also did the same with another lump on her torso. We won’t find out for a couple of days if it’s anything bad or not and I’m pretty damned nervous about it, too. Tracey is pretty scared and I don’t blame her, especially considering Bear died from cancer and that stuff tends to run in families, even for dogs, I guess.
I didn’t get as much work done as I had intended, but I did follow up on a few emails and called Norina at Rennie to make sure my Southmere invoice ($5K!) was in their system and would be paid soon. I’ve had it happen too often where I’ve just left it and then followed up a month later only to hear that something got lost in the mix and it wasn’t even in the system yet! She said I’d probably get a check by the end of the week, which would be a VERY welcome infusion into the ole bank account. Would be nice to get the pile of bills on my desk paid so I can file all that stuff away!
Tracey actually made a Roast Beef today. Not like a pot roast, but a real, honest-to-God, Roast Beef. She even made Yorkshire Pudding to go with it, in addition to the leftover mashed potatoes we had, finished off with some corn. YUM! We’re going to make Beef Dip sandwiches tomorrow which should be YUMMAY!
I was supposed to go to the Burnaby Board of Trade networking breakfast tomorrow morning (technically, now, this morning), but I am not going to go since I want to stay away from business stuff while I look like I’m on drugs with bloodshot eyes.
Going to watch some TV or something and head to bed early(ish).
