Another Day, Another Battle with Boredom

Tracey went to the casino for a couple of hours last night after work.  Lisa and Dale took Marie (Dale’s mom) to stay there for the night for her birthday.  I stayed home and watched more episodes of Sex and the City – funny enough, one of the episodes was when the girls went to Atlantic City to a casino there. haha  Tracey said the casino was a drag and she lost $60, which I think is ridiculous.  She said she only wants to go if I’m with her next time. lol

We went to bed about 12:30am and I woke up just before 9:00am.  I wish I could sleep in for a change!  I keep waking up at – gasp – normal hours!  WTF is up with that? lol  Then, I just have more time during the day to try to occupy myself which is, at the moment, somewhat annoying.  I have too much time on my own to sit around and ponder and think and whatever and just think myself in circles.  Today, I’m just trying to get it into my head that it’s OK if I just hang around the house, watch TV or whatever.  There’s really nothing that needs to be done (except some laundry, which I’ll do later) since I cleaned the house yesterday.  Maybe I’ll clean the fish tank later, too.

We went for a walk at the park before Tracey headed out to work this morning. I was a bit nervous and being able to see so far ahead was still a bit disorienting, but nothing major.  Right now, I think it’s just a battle between me and my brain and its tendency to err on the side of overly cautious.  I fully intend on winning.

I made some calls for Mother’s Day.  I tried to call my mom first but she didn’t answer, so I called Dad and talked to him for a while.  We talked about the different types of birds we each see on our feeders.  Weird that I’m so much like him!  I called and left messages for Bonnie, Heather, Mrs. Judy and would have left one for Mrs. Lynnda, but her machine didn’t come on for some reason.  Mom finally called me back and we went through some of the questions from the Conversations With My Mother book.  We talked about her aunts and uncles and stuff like that.  I got a wild hair to call my Aunt Rachel and I talked to her for a few minutes.  Told her I was going through this book with my mom and one of the questions asked about family traditions and recipes and my mom had mentioned Granny Stringer’s Chicken and Dumplings recipe which I was sure Aunt Rachel would have gotten from Aunt Elmira.  So, I talked to her for a while and asked about Lindsay and Scott(y).  She said they were on MySpace, so I found them both on there after I hung up and sent them friend requests.  Weird to get in touch with people from your family you haven’t talked to since you were a kid.  I found Lindsay right away and my God, I can’t believe how much she looks like her mom.  She confirmed my request on Facebook, so hoping to get to talk to her via IM or something soon.

Oh, and did I mention that I am BORED!?!?!  Maybe I’ll just take a little cat nap and then get started on some laundry.  Still need to take a shower, though.  No point in doing that only to lie down and mess up my hair (as messed up as a haircut this bad can possibly be!).
