Cherry Bombed

Saturday, September 19, 2009 – 9:53pm – Beddinghampshire, Burnaby, BC

It’s been a pretty busy and active week. I feel like I have some semblance of a life again, which is a nice change. Worked at Joyce’s on Wednesday and Thursday and went to Launch Party Vancouver 8 on Wednesday night after work, which was cool. Joyce, her friend Savannagh and Laina all came, too and we had a nice time chatting with the guys from CDot and a few other people while we were there. I ran into Cam Cavers from the GDC list and talked to him for a few, too.  After the event, we all walked down to the Lennox Pub on Granville and had something to eat. I got coconut/almond chicken fingers, which were very tasty!  Excellent fare for pub grub.  Laina came back to Burnaby with me and we stopped by Denny’s for some dessert before heading back here. We stayed up yapping about this and that until about 4am and I went to sleep and was exhausted when I had to get up for work on Thursday. I’ve got Joyce’s web site almost finished with the new look. We had a meeting on Thursday afternoon with Barb and Maggie to talk about who’s going to write what content for the site, etc. It’s pretty cool to be working with other people for a change. It gets old doing everything alone. Life seems to be changing for the better, and for that I’m exceptionally grateful!

Today has been a good day. Got almost a full night’s sleep, which is more than I can say for the rest of the week!  Just got back home after hanging out with Laina since Thursday night. The cord I ordered for Tracey’s video camera came in on Thursday, so I called Manon when I got home and bribed her and Karine into bringing pizza over. We watched the old vids from when were in Louisiana – some of it was really funny, but mostly boring. I was hoping I might have gotten some footage of my Mom, but I don’t think I saw her very much when we were living there. I guess I just couldn’t handle it at that point.

Laina came over Thursday night and we hung out and didn’t end up going to sleep until after 5am sometime. She crashed on the couch and I woke up at 11:30am on Friday. We piddled around talking about our new business venture – Magpie Social Media – and hauled our asses out of the house around 7. I went to Staples to get a lap desk and Laina went to Pennington’s to try to get some pants. Then, we went to Green Basil for dinner and came back and hung out chatting and messing around on the computers until just before 4am. I read for a little while before I went to sleep.

Woke up today around 11:30am and submitted a couple of new articles to EZineArticles.com – already have two articles that were approved, which is cool. Laina slept for a couple of hours after I woke up, so I just played on the computer a bit until she woke up. I got a shower and we headed over to her house to drop off her stuff and then to pick Tracy up to come downtown with us. We went into the Rock Shop on Granville which I wanted to go into since we were down there the other night for the networking thing. It was very deflating. I tried on probably 8 shirts and they all looked like shit on me. The women’s shirts were made for infant-sized, supposedly-adult women and the men’s shirts just didn’t have a shape that was flattering.

Laina wanted to go to Fluevog, so we were heading down there and I went in a couple of other shops on the way. I found the exact same white tattoo-art belt that I bought from Body Mods at one store, so I bought it for Tracey. I also got a cool red belt that looks like the material they used to use to upholster old diner booths and barstools – it’s sort of translucent vinyl with red glitter showing through. Hard to describe but it’s cool looking. Then, I hit the mother lode when I went into Cherry Bomb to look at their tshirts. Their store is the original location of Bang-On and they also have a vintage section, so I ended up getting an old Kiss 3/4 length shirt and one that has a cool-looking graphic on it that says “I’m hers because she appreciates perfection”. LOL  Then, I got a grey shirt with a white AC/DC logo on it with silver glitter outline and a blank blue shirt that I’m going to use to make myself a Superman shirt. Gonna rough up the Superman logo to make it look worn and stuff.

When we were done shopping, we went to the Railway Club to eat dinner. I got a mixed-greens salad with chicken and it was really good!  Laina dropped me off at the Stadium SkyTrain station and I got home a little before 10.

I had a lot of energy when I was walking home and now I feel like I could go to sleep for the night and it’s just now 11:10pm.

Got the DVR set to record the Saints game tomorrow. Wahoo!!
