Heat Wave

Wednesday, July 29, 2009 – 1:38am – Beddinghampshire, Burnaby, BC

The heat is so ungodly here the past couple of weeks, most notably today seemed like the worst of it. It stayed about 86 degrees in my house all day, in spite of my best efforts of turning on all the fans, opening the windows some, keeping the blinds closed, etc. I even finally managed to put the flat sheet up over the bedroom window to keep more of the sun out.

I went to Central Park with Lynn and her kids for almost two hours this morning. I finally went to sleep around 4:30am Monday night/Tuesday morning and woke up at 9:15am. It was hot even at 10:00am. I was glad to get home. I hadn’t really eaten much and being out in the heat was not my idea of a good time. The kids are cute, though.

Other than that, I mostly just laid around the house, suffering in the heat. I took a 45-minute nap before I had a conference call with Kim and Kevin at 2:00pm.

I talked to Aunt Betty for about half an hour and tried to call my Dad and Deidre, neither of whom I could get in touch with.

Laina came over at about 9:00pm and we headed over to see The Proposal at Metrotown. It was an OK movie, but very Hollywood-formula, totally predictable and stuff. No matter. It was two hours inside an air-conditioned room. And, there were Taco Bell tacos had and enjoyed.

Watched the Bachelorette After the Final Rose thing. Jillian and Ed make a cute couple. Hope they stay together!

Need to try to sleep. Having my tooth out in the morning. Nervous about it. Going to try to not make such a big deal out of it. I’ve had worse things done – like two root canals at the same time and four wisdom teeth out at the same time. I can handle this. Just not looking forward to it by any means. Trying to decide if I’m going to take some clonazepam before I go. Guess I’ll see how I feel when I get up in the morning. Laina is picking me up after because, surprise surprise, Tracey is working. I am somewhat disgusted by it, but not remotely surprised.

Going to read for a little while before I go to sleep. Hopefully, I’ll be able to fall asleep as warm as it is in here.
