I wanted to make an entry for today because it was a really good day overall. I was cranky this morning when Tracey wanted me to get up at like 7:45am or something insane like that, but once I got up (around 10:00am) , the day improved dramatically. First, I woke up to find that, while I was sleeping in a couple of extra hours, Tracey had cleaned the bathroom, changed the kitty litter, taken out the trash and cleaned out (and cleaned) the inside of the fridge. And, breakfast was in the process of being cooked. I was shocked! Things like that are infinitely more appreciated when you don’t have to ask someone to do them and, even better, when you wake up to them having already been done.
She was initially a little pissy with me because of my poor demeanor when she tried to wake me up earlier, but damn, I hate when she gets up and then lights are on in the hall and shining in my face and there’s banging around in the kitchen. There’s only two days in the week when I’m more or less guaranteed to be able to sleep in without the phone ringing or worrying there are emails I should be answering and work I should be doing and, by golly, I wanna take advantage of it!
So, we ate breakfast and watched the Indy/Carolina game in hopes that Carolina’s early lead would mean Indy’s first loss of the season – not even close! Then, we went out for a short walk around the park since Tracey had already made the full trip around when she got up. I was glad to get the exercise since I haven’t been very good about getting out to the park this past week.
Then, the main event of the day – the Saints vs. 49ers game – started and we watched the first half before heading out to the store to pick up a few things to accompany the beer can chicken that Tracey made for dinner. My god that stuff smells good when it’s cooking! I made one of those instant mashed potatoes packets with chicken gravy (wanted to make REAL mashed potatoes but alas the chicken was already done) and coleslaw with some of those Pillsbury biscuits that comes in one of those tubes that explode when you peel off the paper. YUMMY! I am drooling now just thinking about it! I think there may be a few of those biscuits in the kitchen somewhere – hopefully!
So, we watched the game with our Saints jerseys on – me wearing my authentic on-field Drew Brees away jersey and Tracey in my customized women’s jersey with my name and number on it. The Saints KICKED ASS! It was awesome! Three wins in a row now. Final score: Saints 31 49ers 10. WAHOOOOO!!!
So, then, just when I thought the day couldn’t get any better (else than the…well, you know…OBVIOUS thing), Tracey made Rice Krispie Treats for me. *drool drool*. Those things never last long in my presence!
Then, we took a walk around the SkyTrain path and then came back and watched Game 4 of the World Series. I have to stay up tonight to get some work done so I’m not totally stressed out tomorrow morning, so I took a little nap on the chair so I won’t fall asleep at the wheel.
We took a bath and watched an episode of House Hunters and then she went to bed. I really enjoyed her company today and she said she had a nice day with me, too. It’s days like this that support my belief that we could have a really good life together if we just stopped being a couple of assholes to each other a lot of the time.
I had a really good weekend and I’m happy to have some good news and sentiments to document as opposed to all the bitching I generally do in my journals.
Well, I am going to try to stop procrastinating and get to some of the work I should be doing now, though The Heroin Diaries is calling me like a….well…..drug. ;-D
