Something really odd just happened. I finished watching the commentary for Vanilla Sky, after having just watched the movie itself, which is 2 hours long. I don’t know that I’ve ever watched a full-length commentary before. I’ve clocked 4 hours of my evening watching and, technically, re-watching Vanilla Sky. That in itself is odd, but I digress….
I was intrigued with the movie when I had watched it a long time ago, but I never really got what was actually going on. It was on cable earlier and Tracey and I started watching it and then I put the DVD in because, as I’ve mentioned many times before, I find it ridiculous to watch a movie on TV that I have on DVD.
So, after reading about it on IMDb to figure out exactly what is happening in the story before watching it again, watching the movie and then re-watching with Cameron Crowe’s commentary, I hit Stop on the remote and the first thing I see is Katie Holmes in a scene from Batman Begins. Weird.
I just remembered something else, completely unrelated – and silly – that I thought about wanting to mention in a journal post when I was walking back from SaveOn last night at almost midnight. I’ve taken to walking back here from the store by crossing through the Burnaby Library courtyard and then walking up the sidewalk along Willingdon. I’m always looking ahead at the big hedge that’s at the corner of my patio as my "salvation" on the walk back here. I keep looking and know the closer I get to the hedge, the closer I am to home. This is usually significant because I am, most often, carrying heavy stuff on the way back! :-p
Film school is over for the night and I am off to bed. Hope the Saints win tomorrow!
